They really are fascinating creatures, the way in which they protect themselves is quite remarkable. It's really the first bullet-proof vest, if you think about it. They don armour that isn't part of their body in order to protect themselves.
I just find these simple creatures to be incredible.
Note: I found him on my trowel in the backyard, took him in the garage for some photos (he was a natural in front of the camera), and then brought him back to right where I found him. I even made a mark so I could return the trowel to the exact same place from which I took it. No snails harmed here; I love them far too much.
Its a slug!
ReplyDeletei don't believe you have a snail. enjoy your slug
ReplyDeleteA slug?!?
ReplyDeleteThey don't search for a shell. Some snail species are born with an exoskeleton in form of a shell, some are not. Those without a shell will never have one.
ReplyDeletelooks like a common slug

Naked Snail for the win! Put salt onit
ReplyDeletethey are really something special yet again every animal has its own unique features. i used to hate when my mom used to kill the poor snails with salt. its like they are a part of nature and its the same as someone was to throw acid at a human just because they are invading ones garden ugh!
ReplyDeleteHahaha yes it IS a slug. You can tell by the slight truncation where a neck might usually be. This guy was hanging out with two snails - they were serious chillin' on my trowel in the backyard. They were all having fun eating small leaf particles.
ReplyDeleteHaha a slug. It looks so slimy and weird.
