Absolute Darkness

Have you ever driven down a road that had no lights whatsoever? I just finished driving down a stretch of road bounded by the ocean on one side and a cliff on the other. Needless to say, there wasn't much light apart from my anaemic headlights.

It was very odd driving down the street with no lights. Have you had a similar experience? It's very weird, yet extremely cool at the same time.

  3. Yeah, we've got a few unlit roads around here in more rural areas. There's something great about a dark, two lane blacktop.

  4. Hmm, I've never had that happen to me but I'd imagine it'd be very eerie.

  5. My fiance was driving to pick me up from work and there was a blackout, he was going along the highway listening to some classical music then all the lights went out and in came the "horror movie music". You know, that classical eerie music. Yeah, that.

  6. I live right out side Philly PA, for people who live in PA you know its damn near all wooded. Anyhow, the street lights are always going out by the Schuylkill river and you get the same effect as you described, its kind of haunting actually.

  7. I like to jog sometimes, and I used to do it pitch darkness up the road from my house. For some reason it settled me...very odd I know!

And if I bumped into someone, my eyes were more adjusted to the dark than them so they usually were the one who shat themselves.

  12. Our town had a complete blackout one time as I was driving home, and as I was driving through the terribly dark streets, horror movie music happened to come on the radio and scare the crap out of me.

  13. Unlit roads are hella bad for me. Heck I can't drive at night at all because if an oncoming vehicle comes at me...I'm blinded.

  14. I've driven many mountain passes that are completely dark. It's neat when their is moonlight to help you see.
