Giant Strawberry

This is the biggest strawberry I've ever seen. Has crop specialization gone too far? This thing is absolutely massive, and to be honest, I'm a bit uncomfortable eating it.

  3. considering it's killing the worlds bee populations and they pollinate 30% of our food, yeah, it has gone too far. the pesticides kill not only pests to make such a monster strawberry!

  4. The taste is also pretty off when you eat big ones, no? I usually prefer the smaller ones, as the taste is way stronger.

And yea, not easy to eat these either.

  6. Where did you find such a giant strawberry? I think it has been injected with colchicine to cause poliploidy.

  11. They used to get massive when we would grown them naturally in the yard, they all well, but they lose the sour, so typically strawberries are picked before they can get that large.

  17. i feel you man! i used to love fruits when i was kid now i feel guilty when i eat fruit without a thick layer...its like i am eating poison. you could wash the fruit for a bout 2 good mins or blend some baking soda, vinager and lemon and spray the fruit to reduce the pesticides. they also sell a similar mix in some stores. better yet if you have the money go organic.
